Find your crew. Or start one.

An outpost is a local Royal Rangers crew — meeting weekly in a church or community hall, led by trained volunteers, open to every family. Outposts meet across Australia, and new ones are opening in QLD, NSW and VIC this year.

What is an outpost?

A weekly home base for adventure.

Every outpost is a small, local community: kids and teens in four age-group crews, mentored by screened and trained leaders who know every name in the room.

Meetings run weekly during school terms — skills and badges one week, games and campcraft the next, with camps, hikes and state events scattered through the year.

Outposts welcome every young person — of every background and ability. You don't need to attend the host church, own a uniform, or know a tent peg from a tent pole. Just come along.

For families

Finding an outpost is this easy.

  1. Say hello

Email info@rangers.net.au with your town and your kids' ages. We'll connect you with the nearest outpost — or the closest one coming soon.

  2. Visit a meeting

Come along for a night, no commitment. Kids jump straight into the games; parents meet the leaders and see exactly how the evening runs.

  3. Join the crew

If it clicks — and it usually does — your Ranger gets a uniform from the Supply House, picks their first merit badge, and the adventure begins.

For churches

Start an outpost in your town.

Some of the strongest outposts in the country started with one church, two willing leaders and a hall. If your church wants to mentor the young people of your community, we'll walk with you the whole way.

New outposts are launching in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria this year — your town could be next.

  • National startup guidance, curriculum and merit materials from the Supply House
  • Leader screening support and Leadership Training Academy places
  • Connection to your state district — camps, events and experienced mentors
  • A proven 60-year program, ready to run
